Adult Literacy Aotearoa (Kapiti) Inc. is a non-profit organisation which assists adults who would like to become more confident at reading, writing, communication, numeracy and computer skills.
Help is available to adults of any age, who are seeking literacy support to get a job, obtain a qualification, learn the road code, write a story or to read to grandchildren. Specially qualified tutors are available to work one-on-one with individuals, or with small groups, to help build literacy skills and confidence. Times for tuition are arranged to suit.
As well as supporting general literacy development within Kapiti, support is available in:
- everyday reading and writing
- whanau literacy
- basic computer skills
- literacy using the computer
- everyday maths
- learner licence theory
- apprenticeship support
- study support
- workplace literacy
- communication skills
All of our services are:
- provided at no direct cost to the individual;
- tailored to suit the personal needs and choices for the individual; and

We currently have offices in Paraparaumu and Otaki where we have approximately 32 voluntary tutors who are able to work one-on-one with students and/or run a number of small literacy based groups.
